Q's Daily DIY Green Tips: Cold Water Pipe Insulation

If you thought insulating the hot water in your conditioned or unconditioned space was enough, I must apologize.  Insulating cold water pipes has its benefits as well.  For one, insulated cold water pipes are less likely to burst during the winter months reducing the the likelihood of water damage.  In the summer months, un-insulated pipes, cold water, cold pipes, and warm humid air are a recipe for condensation issues.  With this in mind, it might be a good idea to insulate the cold water pipes, increase the durability of your home, and reap the Indoor Air Quality benefits year round.
