Q's Daily DIY Green Tips: Why Compost
When you throw things in the trash, think about what you are disposing. Landfills in the US are filling up at an alarming rate, and in many areas garbage is shipped elsewhere because they are reaching capacity - a double negative on the environment. Aside from recycling, start a home compost heap. Waste such as egg shells, and just about anything organic can go in there. If it was alive at some point, it will likely compost. This soil can be used to cultivate a home garden providing soil rich in nutrients. By creating a little landfill in your backyard, you might not have a big one there some day.
