Q's Daily DIY Green Tips: Heat Reflectors

Welcome to November where here in the northeast the weather begins to turn cold.  With snow this past weekend we may be in for a winter with some bite.  No better time than now to start preparing for that weather change.  If you have radiant heat, such as steam radiators, install heat reflectors behind your heating units.  These shiny sheets will help insulate the area behind your baseboard or steam heat and direct the heat away from the wall and into your living space.  Some manufacturers claim that use can result in up to ten percent energy saving.  Try it yourself!  You can make your own or find one in a store or online.  If making your own, be sure not to use a combustible material!
