Q's Daily DIY Green Tips: Christmas Lights

Before celebrating your cheer by lighting up your home this holiday season, consider the electrical ramifications.  While analyzing a friend of mine's utility usage, I noticed a major spike in December and early January.  The electrical usage in these months was greater than that over the summer months when their air conditioning is functioning.  After some discussion, we determined that the only thing they did outside the norm in these months was to hang Christmas light on a few trees in their front yard.  Over the next few days I'll be providing a few tips on how to save some energy during the holiday.  Tips number one and likely the most effective is: don't hang any lights and find a different way to express that holiday spirit.
